Crime

The department is headed by a Partner, Alasdair James, who is the designated supervisor for the purpose of the Criminal Defence Service. The two other partners, John Byne and Michael Hayman, are also long-standing members of the local Duty Solicitors Rota with many years of experience in this field.

Types of work

We deal with the full range of cases coming before the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts ranging from simple theft and motoring matters to the most serious offences. Members of the department have dealt with serious sexual offences and murder.

The department would seek to arrange legal representation at any hour of the day or night for clients arrested by the police and then to suitably represent them at any further hearings at the local Magistrates’ Courts.

Through many years of contacts, the department is also able to call upon an extensive range of specialist and expert help when assistance is required from others outside the legal field.
