Andrew Cable is the Family Law Supervisor
and a member of the Law Society Family Law Panel. He is assisted
by John Byne and Alasdair
James, who are both partners.
Types of work undertaken within the department include:
- Matrimonial:
divorce, childrens issues including residence (custody),
contact (access), financial provision (maintenance/lump sum),
property claims, pension claims
- Family: childrens
issues including residence and contact, child abduction, advice
on Child Support
- Agency assessments,
adoption
- Domestic
violence: non-molestation and occupation (including exclusion)
orders, harassment injunctions
- Cohabitant
financial/property issues
- Separation
agreements
We offer a comprehensive
range of services which cover any eventuality:
- Preliminary
advice prior to or following separation - identifying issues and
where/what help needed
- Advice as
to funding (whether Public Funding/private)
- Assessment
as to whether mediation appropriate
- Where necessary
deal with any emergency work such as domestic violence injunctions
or interim residence
- Prepare and
conduct/defend proceedings as necessary
- If necessary,
refer case to counsel
- Negotiate
a settlement wherever possible
- Be prepared
and prepare for a contested hearing when necessary
